Sales: $75 million (and more than $100 million in ink sales, equipment and supplies, Ink World estimate).
Major Products: Digital inkjet inks, screen printing inks and narrow web inks, including eco-solvent, conventional and LED UV and water-based technologies.
Key Personnel: Mike Fox, CEO; Richard Bowles, president; Phil McGugan, VP, sales and technical support; James MacDonald, VP, global marketing; Mike McGowan, VP and technical director; Jim Davidson, VP, global operations; Mike Harjung, VP, narrow web business unit.
Operating Facilities: Five in the US, UK, Singapore and Mexico.
Comments: The screenprinting industry has transitioned toward digital printing technologies. Nazdar, a longtime leader in the North American screenprinting ink business, has made that transition as well, developing a strong presence in the inkjet ink market, as well as in the growing flexo and digital narrow web ink segments.
James MacDonald, Nazdar’s VP, global marketing, said that the company enjoyed excellent growth in key markets, including UV/LED screen and digital inks, industrial screenprinting inks and digital OEM services.
“Nazdar enjoyed modest growth in 2016, largely due to expansion in international markets,” MacDonald said. “Nazdar is one of the market leaders in UV LED technology, where we are now starting to see significant opportunities for growth in 2017.”
MacDonald added that 2017 started off very well for Nazdar. “We look forward to continuing growth in these markets,” MacDonald said.
Nazdar prides itself on its R&D, and the past year saw the company launch a wide variety of inks. With an eye on the growing UV digital printing market, Nazdar developed its 702 and 703 Plug and Play series of UV inkjet inks. The 702 Series is formulated for Océ Arizona printers running IJC256 inks; the 703 Series is designed for Fujifilm Acuity printers using KI Series inks. The 705 Series was developed for HP FB500/700 printers.
