Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., Inc. announced that the Océ Colorado 1640 printer, the company’s first wide format graphic arts roll-to-roll printer, will have its public debut in the US at the ISA International Sign Expo 2017 (ISA Sign Expo. The event is set to take place at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas April 20-22, 2017.
Canon considers the Océ Colorado 1640 printer to be one of the most important wide format graphic art product introductions. It is the first 64” roll-to-roll wide format printer built on Canon’s new proprietary UVgel Technology, which was created to fill the functional gaps of printing with traditional technologies such as Latex, Eco Solvent, and UV, while at the same time addressing market needs for faster job printing and turnaround. The Océ Colorado 1640 printer features disruptive UVgel Technology with the lowest running costs of any 64” printer, with an estimated 40% savings on ink costs.
At the ISA Sign Expo, attendees will have the opportunity to witness first-hand how the new technology will benefit customers in all print production markets by delivering productivity of high quality prints at 610 ft2/hr and an outdoor banner mode of 1,710 ft2/hr.
The Océ Colorado 1640 printer uses LED cold curing technology, which allows for a wide application range including indoor and outdoor banners, floor graphics, printing on thin inexpensive films for POP displays, wallpaper and more.
The UVgel ink features ultra-thin ink dispersion with almost no discernible physical profile and almost no dot gain. This equates to a very low ink consumption rate, helping reduce ink usage by up to 40% compared to competing technologies.
“We are thrilled to be showcasing the Océ Colorado 1640 printer to our customers for the first time at the ISA Sign Expo,” said Sal Sheikh, VP, marketing, Large Format Solutions, Canon Solutions America.
