Job Description:
Kerley Ink is looking for an intelligent, flexible, energetic self-starter for the important position of production director. Position is located in suburban Chicagoland.
Responsibilities include:
• Working directly with the President to most effectively accomplish the duties required of the Production Director
• Meeting production schedule deadlines while maintaining product quality
• Supervision of shift leaders to ensure adequate staffing and production at all plants and all shifts
• Supervision of the maintenance of physical plant and production equipment
Desired Skills and Expertise:
Our ideal candidate has these qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Associate’s degree in an industrial field or have a minimum of 2 years college credits toward an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree
• Has 5 or more years working in the printing ink, paint, coatings or chemical industry, preferably in a management position or have equivalent experience in The U.S. Armed Forces
• Has practical math skills required for this position: working with percentages, proportions in ink formulas
• Has a practical knowledge of high-power electrical equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic operating equipment, and basic plumbing principles as applied to the operation and maintenance of ink mixers, ink pumps, ink mills, and ink filters
• Must be able to work with deadlines and successfully fulfill documentation requirements of all ink batches produced
• Candidate understands the basic principles of the quality control of paste and liquid printing inks through the use of inkometers, viscometers and proofing equipment
• Has a very good understanding of basic computer technology and have very good to excellent computer data entry skills as well as proficiency with MS Office or Macintosh OSX
• Has the mindset to maintain order and cleanliness in our factories using a hands-on, involved leadership style
• Can effectively utilize our supply chain protocol and production methods as well as enforce standards of industrial hygiene, worker performance and safety
• Must speak fluent English
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
