Mimaki USA was honored with the SGIA Product of the Year Award in two categories.
The Mimaki JFX200-2513 EX UV-LED flatbed printer won in the UV/Latex Flatbed (under $100,000) category, and the Mimaki 3DUJ-553 full-color 3D printer won in the 3D Printer category.
The awards were announced by the Specialty Graphic and Imaging Association (SGIA) ahead of its annual PRINTING United show, which took place Oct. 23-25 in Dallas.
“We appreciate the continued recognition of Mimaki excellence built into every system, which is designed to consistently produce outstanding quality,” said Michael Maxwell, senior manager at Mimaki USA. “Across several flatbed and roll-based models, Mimaki has routinely been recognized during the Product of the Year competition for several years, which we believe is a testament to the engineering and core technologies that are part of every Mimaki product.”
Output devices are judged based on reports generated by the Sonoco Institute at Clemson University.
“This is the only competition I know of that reports on the percentage of Adobe RGB a printer can hit,” said Ray Weiss, director of digital print programs at SGIA.
JFX200-2513 EX new features include a draft mode that enables maximum print speed of up to 12 (4-foot by 8-foot) boards per hour.
The 3DUJ-553 printer is a fully ICC-compliant, color managed device that can produce more than 10 million color combinations and achieve 90% of SWOP colors.
