Cosmetic chemists attending in-cosmetics Latin America 2016 will be introduced to Sun Chemical’s SunSHINE Mystic Black, a new black pearlescent effect pigment that can be used to create bold formulations for lipsticks, mascara, eyeliners, eye shadows and nail lacquers.
Guests who visit Sun Chemical’s booth, shared with its Brazilian distributor, Cosmotec International, will learn how the new SunSHINE Mystic Black pigment is optimized to achieve a unique combination of jetness, coverage, sparkle and luster.
Based on synthetic mica, which provides a soft skin feel and high color purity compared to natural mica, the effect in the new black pearlescent pigment can be easily incorporated into a variety of applications and has broad global regulatory compliance.
“Perhaps the most sought after effect pigment is a black pearl. However, creating a true black pearl is difficult because the color black is a result of the absence of light while pearlescent pigments require light interference to generate color,” said Kelly Dobos, cosmetics technical manager at Sun Chemical Performance Pigments. “SunSHINE Mystic Black is a black pearl effect pigment that overcomes these obstacles and fills this desired need of cosmetic formulators.”
SunSHINE Mystic Black joins Sun Chemical’s SunSHINE family of pure synthetic mica-based pearlescent pigment colors ranging from silver and gold metallic effects to bright, sparkling accents in green and blue. SunSHINE pigments provide some of the lowest residual heavy metals levels available in the market, and their transparency, luster, chroma, broad range of particle sizes, and smoothness make them ideally suited for use in all finished product formulations.
