Joining the world’s leading textile printing exhibition ITMA for the first time, Marabu makes a statement. Textile printing is a growing market – not only within the printing industry but also for the ink manufacturer itself.
Among the established TexaJet sublimation ink series and the label-less direct printing using the pad printing ink TampaTex TPX, Marabu will introduce its new digital concept for water-based “cold peel” transfer printing onto T-shirts.
In the field of water-based digital textile printing inks, Marabu presents its versatile TexaJet DX range. The hybrid sublimation ink TexaJet DX-SHE is suitable for traditional transfer printing as well as for direct printing onto pre-treated polyester fabrics. Its full color brilliance can be achieved on machines with Epson DX4 and DX5 printheads.
Especially for transfer printing and optimized for Epson DX6 and DX7 printheads, Marabu has developed TexaJet DX-STE, which is ideal for printing on very thin paper.
The wide variety of applications includes all textiles with at least 60% polyester as well as rigid materials pre-coated with polyester. These are in particular home textiles, soft signage applications such as flags and banners as well as functional sportswear.
In Milan, Marabu will introduce its new digital concept for “cold peel” transfer printing onto T-shirts. One plus in comparison to sublimation printing is the wide variety of fabrics that can be printed. Currently, the “cold peel” transfer printing process can be realized by digital and screen printing.
With the new re-designed, water-based MaquaJet DA-E formulation, Marabu combines the advantages of current transfer printing technologies in one application: The design is printed in CMYK color mode directly onto the foil without a time-consuming pre-press process. Only the white barrier layer is applied using screen printing. The small layer thickness of the final patches allows a soft look and feel, thus increasing the wearing comfort of the printed T-shirts.
The use of label-less printing is an interesting application especially for manufacturers of sportswear. Marabu will display its TampaTex TPX pad printing ink which is certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100. The direct printing of size specifications, washing instructions or logos onto textiles with TampaTex TPX keeps up the wearing comfort because no sew-in labels are necessary.
Thanks to pad printing short-term design changes can be implemented quickly and without long lead times. It also eliminates the need for additional tag material and saves time and effort compared to sewn-on labels or tags applied with heat transfer.
