Labels Unlimited, a label converter in Manitoba, Canada, has purchased and installed a Xeikon 3030 digital color press to support its growing business in pressure sensitive labels, tags, film, laser sheets and other types of packaging.
Labels Unlimited has been in business since 1985 in Winnipeg. The company has expanded three times and now employs nearly 50 people. Many of its customers come from western Canada, but they serve accounts all over North America and anticipate continued growth. The company’s label and packaging customers run the gamut from the food and beverage industry, to hospitals and even into semi-pharmaceutical businesses.
The company was searching for a press that would enable it to serve the needs of these industries. As general manager Larry Chartrand said, “Virtually everything we do is custom. What do you want? We’ll make it.” Short runs and specific customer needs led them to choose a Xeikon 3030 press.
Labels Unlimited needed the capability to produce labels of various shapes and sizes, using temporary or permanent adhesives and other variables. The Xeikon 3030 provides the capabilities they needed, along with excellent training resources and customer support, according to Chartrand. They are able to do design work from the ground up, modify existing designs or use finished artwork.
Xeikon’s toners were another factor, as they have higher lightfastness ratings than other digital printing technologies and are environmentally safe. “The combination of all those things came together and now that we have the press we know we made the right decision,” concluded Chartrand.
