Comments: With more than 30 offices worldwide, SICPA Holding S.A., Prilly, Switzerland, is the international leader in security inks and solutions. SICPA’s security inks and solutions are used by most of the world’s banknotes, as well as identification documents such as passports, transport tickets and plastic cards. Among its products are intaglio inks and special effect inks such as optical effect and luminescent inks.
Founded by Albert Amon in 1927, SICPA is owned and managed by its third generation of the family, with Philippe Amon, chairman and CEO of SICPA, leading the company.
SICPA consists of the SICPA Security Inks Division, which provides security solutions for banknotes, ID cards, passports, birth certificates, postage stamps, tax banderoles, product markings and security labels, among other items. SICPA’s Government Security Solutions Division provides security for tax revenues for tobacco, alcohol, pharmaceuticals and other counterfeited products.
In 2023, SICPA opened its unlimitrust campus, which the company termed the world’s first center of excellence dedicated to the Economy of Trust, with an eye on bringing together innovation players in one single community.
“In a world where the pace of innovation is accelerating, the unlimitrust campus embodies SICPA’s desire to create a safer, more reliable world for everyone through collaboration and the pooling of multiple areas of expertise,” said Philippe Amon, chairman and CEO of SICPA, in announcing the new campus.
In an interesting technology move, SICPA is partnering with UbiQD, Inc., a New Mexico-based nanotechnology company, in developing anti-counterfeit security inks based on UbiQD’s quantum dot technology.
“This partnership with UbiQD has enabled us to develop cutting-edge optical and machine-readable features that we will be able to add to our robust portfolio of security inks and solutions for our clients,” said Scott Haubrich, R&D director of SICPA US, in announcing the partnership.
