This position is for an experienced R&D Polymer Chemist. The job will require designing polymers (with emphasis on polyurethanes and/or latex) for inkjet inks to meet product requirements for digital inks covering commercial and industrial segments. Prior experience designing, developing, and productizing polymers is required.
Responsibilities include,
- Design polymers to address technical requirements for digital inks. Integrate polymer designs into ink formulation by working with Chemist formulators, aligning polymer development, and qualification phase with the integral program. Meet program deliverable goals and timelines.
- Develop fundamental understanding of polymer design drivers (composition, morphology, physical/chemical properties, etc.) vs. system performance.
- Commercialize design by leading polymer scale up, including support to process development and specification setting. Conduct design and process robustness evaluation, ensure polymer design meets manufacturability requirements.
- Lead interface with suppliers in support of development activities (e.g. polymer components supplier, scale up, equipment vendors, etc.)
- Propose concepts and ideas to support ink roadmap where polymer development will be a critical component. Support off-cycle development to sustain and increase print growth.
- Lead program reviews to appropriate forums (technical, business teams, product partners, lab staff). Candidate will also be expected to have interactions with HP internal and external partners. Travel to partner printer divisions, external suppliers, off-shore HP sites, and conferences/trade-shows may be required.
