SICPA has created a new gravure/ flexo ink manufacturing plant at Bornem, Belgium as its primary manufacturing site for packaging and industrial inks for European customers.
All steps of the manufacturing process at Bornem, Belgium, from raw material handling to finished product packing, use the latest automation techniques – making it the most efficient production facility in the liquid inks industry worldwide. SICPA expects to produce well in excess of 21,500 tons per year of inks and varnishes for customers across Europe.
Among the products to be manufactured there are:
• Solvent- and water-based inks for packaging.
• Industrial inks and varnishes.
There will also be an application center for solvent-based product dedicated to the Benelux region.
The factory was designed and built by Jacobs Engineering, a U.S. engineering company. Through the expansion of its business, SICPA has outgrown its old factory which was built more than 30 years ago in 1972. As a result, the new plant at Bornem was developed, which will serve and support SICPA’s future growth for the next 30 years and beyond. Fifty specialist staff will work on shifts round the clock, serving our customers all over Europe.
The Bornem plant will be officially inaugurated on Sept. 19, 2003.
