Buhler, Uzwil, Switzerland, (www.buhlergroup.com) has acquired the business activities of the dispersion and micro wet grinding technology unit from Draiswerke GmbH Mannheim on June 1, 2003. By doing so, Buhler is further expanding its activities in the design and construction of plant and equipment for making printing inks, coatings and specialty chemicals.
The contracts were signed after the German Federal Cartel Office gave its approval. The former Draiswerke GmbH Mannheim unit will operate as a branch of Buhler GmbH in Braunschweig. The unit’s activities at the present site in Mannheim, Germany, will continue as a center of competence. The approximately 30 employees will be retained. This addition to the group’s range of products and the combination of know-how will reduce the time to market.
The Drais company has been active for more than a century. It revolutionized the performance of high-speed bead mills as far back as 40 years ago, pioneering the technology and setting the pace.
