Together, Flint Ink and Flint Ink employees worldwide have donated more than $290,000 to Sept. 11 charities. The generous contribution is the result of “an immediate, heartfelt desire among Flint Ink employees to do something to help in the aftermath of the recent national tragedy,” said Dave Frescoln, president and COO of Flint Ink.
Immediately after the attack, Flint Ink employees at the company’s global headquarters and its operations around the world expressed the need to help those affected by the tragedy. The company’s Foundation responded promptly, and its board pledged a total of $250,000 to the cause. Of that, $100,000 was immediately dispersed and shared equally between the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and the United Way September 11 Fund.
The remaining $150,000 pledged was used as a five-to-one employee challenge, Ten days after the challenge was presented to them, Flint Ink employees from North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia/Pacific reached the goal of $30,000. By the end of the 11th day, donations surpassed $40,000. The final combined donation totaled over $290,000.
“The relief effort had unexpected benefits,” said Rita Conrad, director of communications, Flint Ink. “There was the obvious one – raising money for an important cause that people felt strongly about. But there was also the strong sense of corporate pride that the effort instilled. We received a number of messages expressing pride and appreciation in working for a company that cared. That was a bonus.”
“Flint Ink’s employees transcended the anger, fear and uncertainty we all felt. The response of our Foundation, board and our employees has been truly remarkable. Their caring spirit and generosity is inspiring,” Mr. Frescoln added.
