TOPPAN Group company, TOPPAN Packaging Czech s.r.o., held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the launch of a new plant in Most within the Ústí nad Labem Region of Czech Republic. This new plant will manufacture GL BARRIER a transparent barrier film developed and manufactured for a range of packaging applications.
At the ceremony managing executive officer Masahiko Tatewaki said, “I would like to express my great appreciation to everyone who has supported our plan for TOPPAN’s very first Czech site in the city of Most. Establishing a European base for our GL BARRIER business has been a long-standing wish. More than 15 years ago, demand for transparent barrier packaging materials increased from Europe, and our efforts to establish overseas bases began at that time.”
Construction of the plant is scheduled to finish and the plant plans to begin operations at the end of 2024. The new plant will help supply the increasing demand for eco-friendly and sustainable products in the European market Europe and around the world.
Distinguished guests at the ceremony included His Excellency Hideo Suzuki, Japan Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Jan Paparega, Czech Senator; Jan Schiller, Governor of the Ústí Region; as well as TOPPAN’s managing executive officer Masahiko Tatewaki and TOPPAN’s head of global packaging Hiroshi Suzuki.
“Our barrier film is not only a sustainable and recyclable product but also uses the most advanced technology in the world. We are very proud and excited to support our customers and consumers by providing products from Most to the European market. I believe that by being able to come to the Czech Republic, we will be able to make an even bigger step forward in this business,” Tatewaki added.
GL BARRIER is a proprietary brand of barrier products by TOPPAN that are centered on GL FILM, a transparent film. GL FILM’s stable performance is created by a multi-layer structure that combines a unique coating layer with high-quality vapor-deposited layer. GL BARRIER products have a wide variety of applications including industrial materials, food, and medical/pharmaceutical sectors.
