MicroDynamics released a new “wide field mode” feature in the most recent MicroScan3 version 3.5.0 software release. Without modifications to the existing Veritas microscope, the new field mode doubles the field of view on the anilox. With the new mode, users can use one lens to inspect a wider range of anilox rolls.
Prior to this update, frequent changes between 4x, 10x, and 20x lenses were required to measure an anilox inventory of low and high line screens. With the new software, downtime and risks associated with lens changes are eliminated, and the range of anilox rolls inspected using one lens increases.
Doubling the width and the height of the microscopes’ field of view enables faster and easier anilox quality control. Printers can use a standard 20x objective lens to inspect screen counts from 120 lpi to more than 1500 lpi. Additionally, when using a 10x objective lens, users can inspect screen counts as low as 60 lpi.
“Veritas was designed to be upgradable, modular, and future proof for the modern printer. We are always open to customer feedback and will continue to innovate new features that make anilox inspection with Veritas fast, easy, and reliable,” said director of operations Brent Zucher.
This is one of many continuous improvement updates. Future software releases will automatically be applied to all Veritas systems with no additional hardware or software required and may not be compatible with legacy MicroDynamics equipment.
