Fujifilm (Stand B2.564) used its Productronica debut to demonstrate the cost and time savings it can deliver to manufacturers of membrane switch graphic overlays. With quality on a par with screen printing and huge advantages in flexibility, time savings and costs, inkjet is the future of membrane graphic overlay production and Fujifilm UV inkjet technology is showing the way.
The Fujifilm stand featured an Acuity LED 1600 II printer producing high-quality embossed samples on MacDermid and Kimoto films for visitors to take away. This versatile, reliable and accessible 1.6m wide UV LED printer provides an ideal investment opportunity for industrial print businesses looking to take advantage of the benefits of inkjet. The Fujifilm stand also featured a display wall with a wide range of Fujifilm inkjet-printed membrane switches and experts will be on hand to answer questions. Demonstrations included actuation testing to showcase the durability of the UV ink film.
A representative from a major membrane switch manufacturer in Turkey, Elitronik, who is already using the Acuity LED 1600 for this very purpose, was also at the stand for the whole show to showcase how Fujifilm inkjet technology has benefited her business. This includes a demonstration of the process of membrane switch fabrication, bringing the multiple layers of printed electrical circuits together with the graphic overlay on the top.
“Fujifilm has supplied screen print solutions to the membrane switch market for many years and increasingly we are seeing a demand for UV inkjet technologies to meet the demands of shorter runs and lead times," said Kevin Jenner, business manager, Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems. "We now feel that this technology has reached a point of such performance and reliability that it is time we focused on delivering those benefits to new and existing partners in this field.
"The use of inkjet technologies in the electronics market has huge growth potential, and Fujifilm is well placed to lead the way as this market develops," Jenner continued. "We look forward to challenging the preconceptions of those who may not have seriously considered UV inkjet before and demonstrating its power and potential.”
