Christof Naier, Gallus Group’s VP of marketing and sales, reports that Info Label of Clifton Park, NY, has signed a contract for the first new Gallus Labelfire 340 digital label printing press destined for a US customer. Mark Dufort, president of InfoLabel, previewed the press at the Heidelberg Digital Forum in June 2015, and subsequently at Gallus headquarters in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
“Our investment in the Gallus Labelfire 340 will allow us to provide our customers with exceptional quality, shorter lead times and lower costs,” Dufort said. “The first thing that caught my attention was the run speeds – three times faster than my existing digital presses – and no click charges. Also, the Gallus Labelfire 340 easily handles eight colors instead of seven, giving me a lot of flexibility.”
Ultimately for Dufort the most impressive aspect of the Gallus Labelfire 340 is it being a total inline solution, from file download to finished labels. The press handles digital, flexo, cold foil, rotary screen, diecutting – from start to finish all on a single machine.
After a live demo on nearly a dozen of his files at Gallus headquarters in St. Gallen in May 2016, and understanding how a total inline solution would eliminate converting equipment costs and additional labor and waste, Dufort was convinced that the Gallus Labelfire 340 made sense for his business. A little over one week after the demo, and on the eve of drupa, Mark signed a contract for delivery in Q4 of 2016, thus making Info Label the first Gallus Labelfire 340 installation in North America.
