The Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC) honored Mark D. Fairchild with the presentation of the Macbeth Award during its annual meeting held in Detroit, MI. Dr. Fairchild, director of the Munsell Color Science Laboratory at Rochester Institute of Technology, was recognized for his recent work on color appearance models, his textbook on color appearance and for the development of the world’s first international standard color appearance model—CIECAM97s.
The Macbeth Award is presented biannually to a member or former member of the ISCC for recent important contributions in the field of color. Founded in 1931, the ISCC is an organization of societies and creative individuals who work to propagate the understanding of color and to promote communication between technically oriented specialists in color and creative workers in art, design and education.
