Facing increasing demand for its inks and coatings combined with raw material shortages and higher transportation costs, Sun Chemical announced it will increase prices across a broad portfolio of its packaging and commercial sheetfed inks, coatings, and adhesives in North America. The price increases are effective March 15, 2021.
Some key raw materials, including petrochemical, vegetable oils and derivatives, are in short supply. Meanwhile, international freight transport costs have risen, and economic recovery is driving higher demand. These are leading to cost increases in Sun Chemical’s raw material feedstocks.
“These unprecedented dynamics have resulted in significant inflationary pressure which requires us to raise prices to offset these costs,” said Chris Parrilli, president of North American Inks, Sun Chemical. “We will remain focused on supplying our customers with best-in-class solutions.
