Alexander’s began in 1979 as a retail copy center, growing to four locations between Salt Lake City and Utah County. Its first location was in Provo, UT.
It wasn’t until 1993 that Alexander’s transitioned into commercial printing with the acquisition of a Xerox Docutech.
In 1998, the company moved into its 40,000-square-foot production center, before adding another 25,000-square-feet to the facility, located 30 miles south of Salt Lake City.
Alexander’s specializes in producing printed products for online retailers and has served as an all-digital commercial printer since 2012.
The company has been utilizing Indigo presses since 1996. Today it runs an HP Indigo 7900, three HP Indigo 12000s (a 29-inch HP Indigo 12000 was installed last year) and the HP Indigo 100K.
“The 100K gave us the ability to ramp up quickly after the installation and also gave us greater speed and capacity,” said Jeff Alexander, the company’s president and CEO. “Since we already had the 12000’s we didn’t have to develop any new operating processes. Our operators were able to come up to speed quickly.”
Alexander’s also uses two MGI presses for digital foil and varnish.
“Alexander’s is very willing to customize our processes to fit our customers,” the CEO said. “We have automated our processes to make a seamless transition in our onboarding of new clients. Our print and fulfillment services allow our clients to grow their customer base and product offerings.”
With over 150 employees, Alexander’s serves clients in 14 countries and ships to well over 30 countries around the world, according to its website.
According to Alexander, the COVID-19 pandemic has boosted demand for online orders of personalized photo, commercial print and publishing products from its customers offering B2C app and online services.
