Sufficient physical ability to work in a lab setting and operate lab equipment; remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time; lifting or moving up to 10 pounds routinely and and/or moving up to 50 pounds occasionally.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Generally, works in an ink laboratory approximately 75% of the time. In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, the incumbent must have mobility to move around the laboratory and wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, and a lab coat. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to hazardous chemicals in the laboratory.

Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Formulate new inks as well as revise of existing formulations as needed.
- Ensure that production of inks is meeting initial design criteria
- Work with Quality Control on statistical studies for process and quality improvement
- Investigate customer complaints regarding ink quality
- Maintain records and documentation including: lab notebook, sample logs, and various electronic files for formulations and test results.
- Testing/documentation of retain samples when necessary.
- Reporting of lab projects/results when required.
- Proofread all formulas prior to production
- Interact with suppliers, equipment manufacturers, internal sales staff and customers.
- Selection of raw materials, equipment and software for research.
- Maintain a neat, clean and orderly lab and/or work space.

- B.S. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field, Masters or PhD preferred
- Strong practical approach to formulating, both guided and self-directed
- Knowledge of organic/polymer science and technology is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to contribute effectively as a member of a team
