Job Description:
This position is for an experienced Textile Ink Chemist, with focus on developing printing ink systems for digital textile solutions. The job will require designing digital ink chemistries, formulations and treatments to develop solutions for textile printing for various printing platforms. Textile ink chemistry experience (textile chemicals, coatings, dyeing and finishing and/or process development within the textile manufacturing industry) is required, with a focused on digital printing a plus.

These activities range from on-program to off-cycle efforts, pushing technical capabilities of printing for future product embodiments. - Understand the market requirements for textile printing and translate the marketing needs into technical deliverables
- Create a plan with major technical deliverables and execute in accordance with that plan
- Develop new treatment and ink technologies for HP’s digital textile printing solutions market
- Use personal creativity and innovation to provide new product solutions
- Understand common industrial testing methodologies and their interpretation for textile materials and implement new tests as needed
- Engage with chemical suppliers to develop appropriate materials for desired performance
- Document, summarize and communicate results in a timely and effective manner
- Utilize an understanding of the chemistries of both natural and synthetic fibers, surface morphology, chemical bonding and structure/property relationships to identify formulation knobs impacting image quality, durability and feel of the printed fabric
- Align with printer partners and other development teams in generating testing protocols and materials
- Follow standard testing protocols
- Apply ATR (accelerated time to resolution) principles when issues arise
- Identify and implement new processes and procedures to drive efficiencies
- Interact effectively with team members, the leadership team, and stake holders
- Conduct all work following HP standards of conduct and confidentiality
- Availability to travel (20% of the time)
Required

- PhD Chemist, Chemical Engineer, or Materials Science/Engineer with background in polymer or textile chemistry with a proven industrial track record in textile treatments, chemistries, colorants and printing
- Work Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of industrial experience
- Experience developing digital ink solutions for textile will be considered a plus
- Experience in an R&D setting a requirement. Experience in a manufacturing setting a plus
