Videojet Technologies announced the global launch of a new ink formulated with special properties for the pharmaceutical industry. V4234 ink is designed for use in the current lineup of Videojet SIMPLICiTY continuous inkjet (CIJ) printers, including high-performanceVideojet 1880 Series printers, to apply codes, dates and other information on products during packaging operations.
With excellent adhesion, V4234 ink is ideal for printing codes on pharmaceutical and medical packaging, such as blister packs, flexible film, plastic bottles, plastic caps, aluminum vial closures, glass vials, steel and paper cartons. Black in color, V4234 ink performs with good resistance to splashing, soaking and rubbing with a variety of solvents including isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and ethanol.
Qualified to run in Videojet 1280, 1580 and 1880 Series CIJ printers, V4234 is a methyl propyl ketone (MPK) and ethanol-based ink that contains no MEK, acetone or methanol. It is also not classified as a carcinogen, mutagen or reproductive toxin.
A Japan ISHL-compliant product, V4234 ink performs with a lower make-up fluid consumption than many typical MEK-based inks. It is also part of the Videojet iQMark line of inks, designed to help users meet their safety and sustainability goals.
“This new non-MEK ink was formulated to meet our customers’ requirements for excellent adhesion on products that encounter challenging production and distribution environments,” said Sherry Washburn, Videojet supplies business unit manager. “The unique properties of these inks exemplify our commitment to research, product innovation and customer collaboration.”
