At Labelexpo in Brussels, Fujifilm announced a new LED UV curing system, LuXtreme, which enables any traditional flexographic press to be converted into LED UV curing, leading to enhanced label production on narrow web presses.
The system has up to 50,00 hours LED life with a lamp length up to 720mm which is scalable in 24mm steps. It also offers 30-50% higher radiant intensity than competitor’s systems, up to 25W/cm² while using 30-60% fewer LED lamps. This leads to less material distortion and better registration.
LuXtreme offers speeds up to 200m/min for better substrate stability and enhanced productivity. The system also reduces energy and material usages which further enhances productivity resulting in a sustainable mercury-free system solution.
The LuXtreeme system includes an LED adaptor for easy integration to existing mountings, as well as lower downtime, maintenance, and make-ready times required to support the system. It also has reduced or eliminated heat from conventional UV and air-cooled lamps, ambient noise, and odors.
“We are excited to be bringing such an innovative and unique solution, alongside other innovations such as LED IFDC inks, so the labelling market,” said Manuel Schrutt, head of packaging at Fujifilm. “Sustainability is at the forefront of out process and product development, and this launch demonstrates our commitment to providing high quality solutions that are beneficial for the environment, while providing customers with improved efficiency and productivity and a pleasant work environment.”
