The Pulp and Paper Safety Association (PPSA) honored Tom Stigers, WestRock’s president of mill operations, with the prestigious Executive Eagle award in a ceremony held this week. The annual award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to safety and health programs in the paper and pulp industry.
A leader in the industry for 36 years, Stigers has dedicated his career to serving as a champion for innovative approaches to operational safety. He is currently responsible for the operation of 32 WestRock mills located in the United States, Canada, Mexico, India and Brazil and has built an impressive safety-first legacy.
“Tom’s personal commitment to driving meaningful improvements in safety is inspiring,” said James Strange, VP of safety at WestRock. “We are thrilled that the industry is recognizing Tom’s many contributions over his storied career while also shedding light on the important work of promoting safety throughout our industry.”
