The Metro New York Printing Ink Association (MNYPIA) announces that its November meeting will be a tribute to Dr. Juanita Parris of Sun Chemical, who has been named the 19th recipient of the club’s Anthony Mauriello award.
Dr. Juanita Parris joined the ink industry in 1993 as a scientist in Sun Chemical’s research location in Carlstadt, NJ after receiving her PhD in chemistry from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. She has held positions of increasing scope, responsibility and complexity and has led liquid ink, analytical and energy curable R&D.
She spent five years in Sun Chemical’s corporate offices as Director of Procurement. Currently, Juanita is the Global Director of Material Science and leads teams responsible for Analytical, Polymer, the Pilot Plant and Dispersion Engineering, the pressroom and Color Science.
Juanita has received several awards, including NAPIM’s Printing Ink Pioneer Award and TAGA’s Michael H. Bruno Award, both in 2019. In 2017, she was an invited panelist at the Waterborne Symposium on the challenges from an ink makers perspective. In 2020, Juanita was invited to be the keynote speaker at Cal Poly Graphic Communication's banquet as well as TAGA, where she gave an Ink Makers perspective on Industry 4.0.
She was president of NPIRI from 2016 to 2018 and continues to serve on its Technical Board, and has been a board member of both TAGA and RadTech for many years over the course of her career.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Il Villaggio Restaurant and will include an open bar reception and dinner. The cost to attend is $95. Il Villaggio Restaurant is located at 651 NJ Rt 17 North, North Carlstadt NJ . Phone: 201-935-7733.
