In spite the challenges of COVID-19, Brexit and the volatile global supply chain, Pulse Roll Label Products is celebrating turning 20 as the company records another successful year.
A narrow web printing ink specialist, Pulse Roll Label Products was incorporated on May 30, 2001. The company was founded by Gary Seward and Dave Whelan with the journey starting in a small office based in the south-west of England. With strong printing ink backgrounds, the pair were confident that there was room in the UK market for a new innovative narrow web ink supplier, focusing on service and quality.
Customer visits took place in the morning and the pair would return to their office and manufacture the orders taken from the visits earlier that day. Business steadily grew and after two years the team had increased and moved to its own premises at Nibley Lane, Yate. In 2006, Whelan emigrated to Canada with Seward remaining at the helm.
In addition to supplying the UK, the company’s biennial participation at Labelexpo Europe since its debut appearance in Brussels in 2003 contributed to helping it develop strong international partnerships in other markets. By 2012, due to continued growth in both the UK and overseas markets, Pulse Roll Label Products had moved to a much larger production facility in Yate, where the company is still based today.
Year-on-year growth has seen Pulse expand to become a leading player in the UK narrow web ink market and develop its footprint in key international markets. The company’s success overseas was recognized when the company was presented with The Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2015 with the prestigious award being presented for outstanding growth in overseas sales over a three-year period.
Today, Pulse Roll Label Products supplies high quality inks, varnishes and coatings to leading label and packaging converters in both the UK and, via its strong international partnership network, to narrow web printers primarily located in Europe, Middle East & Africa, Asia and Australasia.
“We have come a long way since we started out 20 years ago,” said Seward. “Without doubt it has been a challenging 14 months for the entire UK label industry. But, despite this, Pulse Roll Label Products remains stronger and more resilient than ever. We would not be where we are today, without a great team, and the strong partnerships we have developed with our customers, distributors, and suppliers. I’d like to thank all those who have supported us so far and I look forward to new, exciting opportunities that I am confident the next 20 years will bring."
