Koenig & Bauer has been presenting the annual “High-Performance Metal Decorator of the Year” award since 2013.
It was established to honor customers "who use the company’s products to demonstrate achievement beyond the scope of everyday performance in the field of metal decorating."
Previous winners include PT United Can Company (Indonesia), Glud & Marstrand (Denmark), Ball Corporation (USA) and LITALSA (Spain).
Envases Mexico, which installed the first six-color Mailänder 280 UV printing and coating line, was the 2020 winner.
The six-color UV printing and coating line is the longest Mailänder 280 line that has ever been built. The line incorporates UV drying systems, a MetalCoat 480 inline coating machine and the very latest sheet handling equipment.
Envases Mexico uses the line primarily for the decoration of metal sheets up to a thickness of 0.455 mm for industrial packaging.
The Envases Group operates three packaging divisions: Food and industrial packaging, aluminum beverage packaging and PET packaging.
Envases has 72 production facilities on four continents. The group also includes the former Danish company Glud & Marstrand, which itself won the award in 2017, and the German Huber Group.
