Toyo Ink Co., Ltd. will exhibit at the drupa 2012 print media messe (drupa 2012), which will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, from May 3-16. The company’s booth has several sections, one of which features digital inks. Printing demonstrations of the company’s inkjet inks will be conducted.
The previous drupa exhibition, held in 2008, was referred to as “Inkjet drupa,” and gave many companies an opportunity to present their inkjet products. drupa 2012 is expected to be a different inkjet exhibition than the one in 2008, evolving from “presentations” to an “experience of practical usefulness.”
Toyo Ink develops digital ink products for POD by utilizing many years of experience in inkjet inks in the signage industry and over a century of experience in printing inks. Toyo Ink’s inkjet inks will be used in demonstrations at numerous printer manufacturers’ booths.
Toyo Ink’s booth will have a digital ink area. In cooperation with the Swiss company Graph-tech, this area will feature Toyo Ink’s inkjet printer, and six demonstrations will be performed every day. In these demonstrations, water-based inkjet ink will be used to print a single black color directly on offset paper (coated paper), which is commonly used in the offset printing industry.
The ink is characterized by the ease with which it can be printed directly on offset paper without anchoring or other pretreatment procedures. It is comparable to offset printing in terms of water resistance and resistance to rubbing. Aside from the sheets of paper used in the demonstrations, many other samples of printing on offset paper will be exhibited.
Toyo Ink will also showcase many other types of ink. Its full-color water-based inkjet ink, intended for use in transaction printing and newspapers, is printable in high concentrations with a reduced likelihood of penetrating through to the back of the printed surface. Its full-color UV inkjet ink, developed for use in label printing, offers a wide range of color reproduction. The highly sensitive UV inkjet ink is intended for use in variable information printing (VIP) such as bar codes.
Color inkjet ink (printable directly on offset paper) and water-based inkjet ink (developed for the signage industry) will also be exhibited for reference.
Water-based inkjet ink for the signage industry is an eco-friendly product that is characteristic for facilitating direct printing on non-anchor-treated vinyl chloride sheets, which is the most distinctive feature. It is printable on indoor POP materials such as paper and nylon sheets for soft signage as well as banners, base materials for outdoor signs. This product can be recommended as a solution to widen customers’ areas of business activity.
In preparation for the expansion of digital printing, Toyo Ink develops products based on feedback from the market. The upcoming drupa exhibition will provide a glimpse of these efforts. The company is looking forward to showing these products to many visitors.
