Hideki Okaichi was appointed as Toyo Ink America, LLC’s new chairman and CEO, effective Oct. 1, 2011. Headquartered in Wood Dale, IL, Toyo Ink America manufactures and sells inks, coatings and adhesives for the commercial sheetfed, package printing and digital markets. The company is a member of the Toyo Ink Group headed by parent Toyo Ink SC Holdings Co., Ltd. (formerly Toyo Ink Mfg. Co., Ltd.) of Japan.
Mr. Okaichi entered the Toyo Ink Group in 1984. Early on, he was involved in selling and marketing mainly plastic colorants and compounds to the Japan market. In 2007, he was assigned as managing director of Toyo Ink (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Toyo Ink Coating (Thailand) Co., Ltd., both located in Bangkok. In this role, he oversaw the operations of the Toyo Ink’s offset ink, gravure ink, can coatings and plastic colorants businesses in the region. Earlier in the year, he returned to Japan for a short term before being called on to serve in his first role in the U.S.
Mr. Okaichi succeeds Mamoru Sasajima, who retains his position as president of Toyo Ink International Corp., the holding company for the U.S. operations of the Toyo Ink Group.
