Zebra Technologies Donation Helps Montgomery County Food Bank Manage Hurricane Harvey Demand

Montgomery County Food Bank announced that Zebra Technologies recently donated five ZD420C printers, two MC9200 mobile computers and six months’ worth of Zebra supplies, including thousands of labels and printer ribbon.
 
As a disaster first responder, the Montgomery County Food Bank is at the center of relief efforts in the weeks and months following a natural disaster as the need for food increases.They continue to help their partner agencies, pop-up shelters and other individuals in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The Food Bank relies on donations and assistance from others to keep their efforts going.
 
“During our normal operations, we serve an average of more than 35,000 individuals each month using technology from Zebra to help us track, organize and distribute food to those in need,” said Allison Hulett, president and CEO of the Montgomery County Food Bank. “After a disaster, the number jumps dramatically and increases our needs across the board. Zebra’s generous donation ensures we can continue to meet our monthly target while also meeting the increased demand as we receive more requests.
 
“We are currently using roughly 1,500 Zebra labels per day to label food and pallets coming in the warehouse,” added Hulett.“Those labels identify what kind of food we have, where it came from, where we will store it and where it will go. The Zebra MC9200 mobile computers are used to scan every label so we can quickly and accurately track inventory, know what food goes where inside the warehouse and where it is ultimately shipped.”
 
According to Hulett, the Montgomery County Food Bank collects and distributes more than 8.1 million pounds of food each year, equating to 6.6 million meals to low-income children, adults, and seniors living in Montgomery County, TX.
