A report released by Universum shows that VTT has risen six places in the engineering sector rankings within a single year. “We are delighted that VTT has been ranked among the top three employers. Over the last year, we have been actively communicating with our target groups about the kind of work we do and the feel of VTT as a workplace and a community. It is great to see that our message is really resonating with these groups,” said Kirsi Nuotto, senior VP of HR at VTT. VTT will be seeking out more engineering experts in the coming year as well. The company expects that at least 100 new specialists will be needed. “Moving forward, we will continue to need a wide range of new expertise: Quantum technology, AI, coronavirus research and renewable, smart energy solutions are just some of the focus areas for our future recruitment,” said Iris Lagerström, manager, Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding. Finnish engineering company KONE ranked this year as the most attractive technology sector company. Survey respondents considered the most important characteristics of an attractive employer to be competitive salaries, diverse work tasks and flexible working conditions. VTT puts science into practice by carrying out applied research. VTT implements long-term, future-orientated scientific research and utilizes this research cooperatively to bring rapid, agile solutions to the challenges faced by partnering companies – while shaping innovations in the process. In its joint projects, VTT also works together with other research institutes, international partners and funders. “We are truly a multifaceted workplace – as a company that spans the gap between scientific research and customer work, we have many interesting forms of collaboration to offer,” Nuotto said. “When you put together the breadth of our networks, the international aspect of our research, the diversity of time spans that we work with and the richness of our interdisciplinary approach, it’s no surprise that we have so many interesting job roles on offer.”
