UPM Raflatac Receives TLMI LIFE Certification

UPM Raflatac has been awarded LIFE certification from TLMI, the Tag & Label Manufacturers Institute. Project LIFE – Label Initiative For the Environment – was developed in order to assist TLMI members in finding cost effective ways to reduce their companies’ environmental footprint.

LIFE is a program designed specifically for the narrow web marketplace and addresses four key elements of the narrow web printing and converting industry: clean production, energy and greenhouse gases, product and environmentally preferable materials and management practices.

“Like many other TLMI members, we recognize that addressing sustainability issues is necessary for businesses to compete successfully today,” says Laura Cummings, UPM Raflatac’s sustainability and environmental manager. “All kinds of stakeholders – customers, employees, neighbors, regulatory agencies, and shareholders – are interested in the environmental aspects of a company’s operations and products. We believe it’s important that an industry proactively confronts sustainability issues and credibly responds to stakeholder concerns. Waiting for industry outsiders to identify weaknesses or shortcomings is not an option and that’s why we were eager to support TLMI’s LIFE program.
