Mario El-Khoury is named successor
October 9, 2009
By: DAVID SAVASTANO
Contributing Editor, Coatings World and Ink World
Thomas Hinderling, who has been the CEO of CSEM (Centre Suisse d’Electronique et de Microtechnique) for nearly 13 years, has decided to leave his position at the company to concentrate on other activities. On Nov. 1, 2009, Hinderling will hand over responsibility to his successor, Mario El-Khoury. Hinderling was appointed CEO of CSEM in February 1997. During these years at the helm of CSEM, this visionary has shown himself to be a charismatic and ambitious manager, thereby contributing to the international reputation of CSEM. Whether it involved supporting CSEM or his employees, Hinderling displayed both determination and leadership. His leadership has been characterized by an extraordinary personal commitment – in particular his attachment to equality-related work values and his dedication to practical steps in favor of the family – a broad knowledge of research in the industrial field, exceptional creativity, integrity and loyalty. These qualities are acknowledged and appreciated by everyone at CSEM. Hinderling will remain at CSEM until the end of April 2010, to facilitate an optimal transfer of projects and responsibilities to his successor, El-Khoury, under the best possible conditions. “After nearly 13 years as CEO of CSEM, it is now time to hand over the keys to a younger person. In this respect, and at my recommendation, the Board of Directors has decided to appoint Mario El-Khoury as CEO. I would like to congratulate Mario on this promotion – his humanity and leadership are unquestionable qualities, and I am convinced that he will make an excellent manager for CSEM,” said Hinderling. The Board of Directors and management of CSEM regret his departure but respect Hinderling’s decision. They would like to express their heartfelt and sincere thanks for the work he has accomplished while at CSEM during the last 13 years, and wish him a lot of success in his future activities and responsibilities. El-Khoury’s appointment as CEO comes as no surprise, since he has Hinderling’s complete confidence, and has an excellent knowledge of research and development in the industrial field, as well as a broad experience within the company. El-Khoury and Hinderling have worked closely together in recent years, and this will facilitate a smooth transfer of responsibilities.
