Synaptics Incorporated announced that Acer has selected Synaptics Natural ID fingerprint sensors backed by highly-secure SentryPoint technology for its popular Switch 5 PCs. The Acer Switch 5 is one of the industry’s most secure PCs due to the implementation of Synaptics’ SecureLink technology – entailing fully-encrypted end-to-end biometric authentication from the sensor to the host processor. SecureLink combines industry-standard TLS (1.2) secure communication with AES-256 encryption.

The versatile Acer Switch 5 is a high-performance 2-in-1 PC featuring Synaptics’ fingerprint reader built directly into the power button to conveniently and securely authenticate users.

“Acer takes security very seriously and we are proud to offer a robust solution that protects users while providing the convenience of password-free biometric authentication,” said James Lin, GM, Commercial & Detachable Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc.
