SRI Relaunches the PARC Forum

SRI announced the relaunch of the PARC Forum, an event and program series that brings together some of the world’s leading thinkers for thought-provoking conversations at the intersection of technology and society.

The first PARC Forum event marks the first anniversary of SRI’s acquisition through a donation from Xerox of the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC). The acquisition brought together two iconic Silicon Valley organizations that have created and delivered technologies, services, and ideas that have had a profound impact on every one of our lives.

“To celebrate our first anniversary, SRI is proud to offer a renewed PARC Forum, a nearly 50-year-old Silicon Valley institution,” said David Parekh, SRI’s CEO. 

SRI’s first PARC Forum event will be held on April 4, when Parekh sits down with Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times editor and writer David Leonhardt to discuss his new book, Ours Was the Shining Future: The Story of the American Dream, and how innovation, ingenuity, and investment fueled America’s technological and economic growth.

Leonhardt is a senior writer for The New York Times, where he writes The Morning, its flagship daily newsletter. He is the author of Ours Was the Shining Future: The Story of the American Dream (Random House, 2023). The Atlantic, the Financial Times, and the New Republic named it one of the best books of the year.

Previously at The Times, Leonhardt was an Op-Ed columnist, the Washington bureau chief, a Times Magazine staff writer, a podcast host, and the founding editor of The Upshot section. He also led a strategy group that helped Times leadership shape the newsroom’s digital future. In 2011, he received the Pulitzer Prize for commentary.
