Solarion AG has successfully completed the certification of its flexible solar module technology at the end of 2012, thus achieving a significant and necessary step towards market introduction. Solarion is currently the only European firm with IEC-certified flexible CIGS modules. The certification according to IEC/EN 61646 and IEC/EN 61730-1 and -2 creates a foundation for further development and qualification of innovative products for building integration.

UV, temperature-humidity and temperature cycle tests as well as high-voltage, scratch and hail tests were successfully passed. In its own test lab, Solarion has performed tests far longer as is required by IEC, for example, 4000 hours at 85°C and 85% relative humidity and 800 temperature cycles from -40°C to 85°C. These tests show that Solarion’s modules are minimally as durable as standard crystalline modules.

Solarion AG develops, produces and markets high-efficiency, low-cost thin-film solar cells and modules based on copper indium gallium (di)selenide (CIGS). The technology of Solarion is based on a patented ion beam assisted deposition process of the CIGS absorber in a low-cost roll-to-roll process.
