Sensormatic Solutions RFID Transforms Shopper Experience at 50 Decathlon Stores in Brazil

Sensormatic Solutions announces the successful architecture, integration and deployment of radio frequency identification (RFID) solutions across 50 Decathlon stores in Brazil.

The technology is helping improve inventory management through the supply chain to the point-of-sale, ultimately enhancing the shopper experience and improving store operations.

RFID-enabled solutions that are designed to provide full visibility into inventory offer insights into the flow of merchandise. This ensures that products are available in the right place and at the right time, all the way to checkout.

Sensormatic Solutions’ expertise in RFID retail solutions drove the development and deployment of Decathlon’s existing inventory management technologies to help create a fully RFID-enabled store, aligning with the retailer’s promise to exceed shopper’s expectations while optimizing their operations.

“In addition to improving operational efficiency, RFID technology has also resulted in significant gains in inventory management,” says Kaio Andrade, regional operations manager at Decathlon Brazil. “We saw a 3% increase in inventory accuracy and a 38% increase in counting productivity compared to the same period last year. The improved traceability of products has also proven fundamental in guaranteeing the company’s rigorous quality standards.”

Initial testing happened at Decathlon’s Paulista and Tambore locations in Sao Paulo, before expanding to include all 50 locations throughout Brazil. The following results were reported by Decathlon:

• 50% reduction in self-checkout times for shoppers.

• 100% of products read instantly and accurately when placed in self-checkout bin.
