Schreiner Group has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest initiative for corporate responsibility and sustainable development.
At the same time, the high-tech company became a member of the UN Global Compact Netzwerk Deutschland e. V., an alliance of organizations dedicated to promoting sustainable company management. By taking this action Schreiner Group confirms its clear commitment to acting responsibly along the ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption.
“For us, sustainability is not a trend but a key component of our corporate culture,” says Roland Schreiner, president and CEO of Schreiner Group. “Joining the UN Global Compact underlines our ambition to assume responsibility—for people, the environment, and society.”
As a participant in the UN Global Compact, Schreiner Group commits to actively implementing the principles of the United Nations and to issue information about progress made in a Communication on Progress (CoP) report. Among other things, this refers to actions taken to reduce emissions, ensure fair working conditions, and compliance with ethical business standards along the supply chain.
“We have already implemented many effective actions in the area of environmental and climate protection—but we are striving for more,” adds Dr. Thomas Gulden, head of environmental and occupational safety at Schreiner Group. “Membership in the Network Germany provides us with access to a strong network of companies and institutions working together on solutions for a sustainable future.”
Having joined the UN Global Compact and German Network marks another milestone on Schreiner Group’s journey toward even greater transparency and sustainability. The family-owned company that has won multiple recognition for its commitment is guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“We are delighted to now be a part of this important global initiative,” says Dr. Gulden. “Because only together—in exchange with other companies, academia, and civil society—can we bring about true change and make our world fit for the future.”
