Dutch company SALD BV has moved its headquarters to a new STS building at Eindhoven. SALD has developed “Spatial Atomic Layer Deposition,” a patented, globally unique process for applying coatings reportedly as thin as a single atom on an industrial scale.

CEO Frank Verhage states, “our atomic coatings will revolutionize entire industries, including the production of battery cells for cars and smart devices, the textile industry and fashion, as well as the solar energy sector. We are accommodating the sharp increase in demand with significantly expanded premises.”

SALD is moving into a research and development lab that is twice the size of what is needed for roll-to-roll tooling. With SALD technology it is possible to print nano-thin coatings with specific properties and functions onto the roll. Industrial roll-to-roll production equipment unrolls a flexible base material, printing or imprinting a structure on it before rolling it up again. R2R mass printing productions is used for flexible electronic components, textiles, packaging films, solar and battery coatings.

With the new headquarters and larger production hall, SALD is “expanding in all market sectors: batteries, new solar systems, packaging, membranes and electrolysers,” says Verhage.

SALD’s new STS building is considered up-and-coming technology center at Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Apart from SALD, Smith thermal Solutions, Domrcro and LeydenJar and many other high-tech companies have facilities there.
