Raftar, provider of RFID and mobile application based logistics systems and distribution solutions for leading medical device manufacturers and distributors, has teamed with UPM Raflatac, the world’s number one producer of HF and UHF RFID tags and inlays, on the joint publication of “A Buyer’s Guide for the Auto-ID Enabled Supply Chain.”

The companies developed the white paper, subtitled “Reading is Fundamental: Auto ID ‘Reader’ Hardware for the Medical Devices Supply Chain,” to de-mystify the process of designing, selecting, and implementing RFID-enabled solutions. The Buyer’s Guide contains guidelines for making critical design decisions focused on RFID tag selection, placement and encoding that are key to ensuring RFID success.

The RFID Buyer’s Guide is provided as a resource for medical device companies with plans to evaluate or deploy RFID technology and includes practical assessment models for making critical design and selection decisions such as:

• What are the relevant process improvement benchmarks to be included in a business case analysis?
• What are the system components and what is the “should cost” for a full solution?
• Which technical evaluation criteria must be considered?
• Which questions should be part of an RFI (request for information) to qualify potential providers?

The Buyer’s Guide is available for download at the Raftar web site at http://www.raftarcorp.com/index.php/wp-tunnel-download.
