Qualcomm Incorporated announced the appointment of Martin Anstice, CEO of Lam Research Corporation, and Irene Rosenfeld, former chairman and CEO of Mondelēz International, to its Board of Directors. Anstice and Rosenfeld bring significant business knowledge and operational experience that will be valuable to Qualcomm as it works to execute against its strategic plan to drive continued growth and excellence in mobile and diversify into industries that are being redefined and transformed by the transition to 5G. These industries include Automotive, Internet of Things, Mobile Compute and Networking. “On behalf of the Qualcomm Board, I want to welcome both Martin and Irene. We look forward to their perspectives and guidance across a variety of areas – including technology, international operations, financial expertise, leadership development, business transformation, and innovation – as Qualcomm brings 5G to market, a transition that will accelerate the Company’s opportunity in mobile and beyond,” said Jeffrey W. Henderson, chairman of the board, Qualcomm. Anstice currently serves as CEO of Lam Research Corporation, a position he has held since January 2012. Anstice joined Lam Research Corporation in April 2001 and has held several roles since then, including CFO from June 2004 to September 2008, EVP and COO in September 2008 to December 2010 and president and COO from December 2010 through January 2012. Prior to Lam Research, Anstice held various finance positions from 1988 to 1999 at Raychem Corporation. Subsequent to the acquisition of Raychem by Tyco International, he assumed responsibility for supporting mergers and acquisitions activities of Tyco Electronics. Rosenfeld is a veteran of the consumer products industry. She is the former chairman and CEO of Mondelēz International, a global snack food and beverage company, with sales in more than 165 countries and 2017 net revenue of approximately $26 billion. After a 20+ year career at General Foods and then Kraft Foods, she became chairman and CEO of Frito-Lay North America in September 2004. She returned to Kraft Foods, the predecessor to Mondelēz International, in June 2006 as CEO, and then became chairman in March 2007. In 2012, she led the creation of Mondelez International by spinning off the company’s North American grocery operations – which kept the Kraft name.
