Pulse Roll Label Products Ltd joined its partner Jet Technologies for a roadshow which traveled to Auckland, Sydney and Melbourne, Australia, to present the latest developments in narrow web and labeling. The “Innovation Series” – hosted by Jet Technologies – took place Oct. 15, 17-18. Topics presented included responsibilities for food packaging and closed-loop color management, improving overall equipment effectiveness on the press, and creating value with digital printing. The impact of sensory packaging on consumers was also addressed in the Australian briefings by Jack Malki, director of Jet Technologies. International guest speakers included Gary Seward, managing director, of UK-based Pulse Roll Label Products who joined Dieter Niederstadt, technical marketing manager of Asahi Photoproducts in Germany, and Peter Scott, managing director of Screen GP Australia. Seward kicked off each briefing with an update to the local label, packaging and printing communities on the very latest in European food packaging laws, explaining how these regulations affect ink manufacturers and label printers. He talked about the complexities of migration compliance. “We were delighted to support this event series and participate alongside our partner Jet Technologies, with whom we have a close and long-standing relationship,” Seward said. “We realize that food packaging regulations and understanding the responsibilities within the packaging supply chain can seem quite daunting. These are challenges we have dealt with for many years in Europe now and continue to face. Our food packaging compliant UV flexo ink system, PureTone FPC, and our range of FPC UV flexo coatings and varnishes are optimized to adhere to EU regulations as well as comply with strict industry guidelines and good manufacturing practices. With this experience, we are always keen to share knowledge and help make it easier for our customers to grasp the complexities of this topic.” The benefits of adopting a closed-loop color management process were also touched on by Seward, who talked about how closing the loop guarantees print matches proof every time, whether its digital or flexo. New technologies are changing the face of narrow web print and bringing significant benefits to label printers, brand owners and retailers.
