Plextronics, Inc. was profiled in a video about the remaking of Pittsburgh. Called Rust to Renewal: Pittsburgh’s Green Economy, the piece was produced by the U.S. Department of State to engage international audiences in a discussion of renewal and the new green economy in America. Pittsburgh is featured as a city that has reinvented itself from the old days of the steel industry to an inventive and emerging city that’s on the cutting edge of the new, green economy.

When interviewed for the video, Plextronics CEO Andy Hannah was asked about the perspective people have, or should have, of Pittsburgh. Hannah told the audience, “When you hear Pittsburgh, the first thing you should think of is innovation.”

Hannah went on to talk about the technology that’s being developed at Plextronics: “With our technology you can print inks that allow you to print solar cells so you can imagine solar cells anywhere. Our product can generate, ultimately, the lowest cost solar on the planet.”
