The 80-page White Paper ”OE-A Roadmap for Organic and Printed Electronics” (3rd edition, 2009) is available for download from the OE-A homepage. Nine applications as well as materials, substrates and patterning processes are discussed in detail.

The roadmap for organic and printed electronics is a key activity of the OE-A. Organic and printed electronics is a platform technology based on the combination of new materials and cost-effective, large area production processes that enables multiple applications that are based on organic and printed electronics but vary widely in their specifications.

The OE-A roadmap covers:
Organic photovoltaic cells (OPV)
Flexible displays
Electroluminescent and OLED based lighting
Printed RFID
Organic memory devices
Organic sensors
Flexible batteries
Smart objects
Smart textiles

The White Paper gives detailed information on product generations, key application, and technology parameters, materials, patterning processes, and substrates and identifies principle challenges/red brick walls.

The OE-A roadmap is updated and expanded biannually.

The Organic Electronics Association (OE-A) is a working group within the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) and was founded in December 2004. The OE-A is the leading international industry association for organic and printed electronics and represents the entire value chain of this emerging industry. Our members are world-class global companies and institutions, ranging from R&D institutes, component and material suppliers to producers and end-users. More than 120 companies from Europe, North America, Asia and Australia are working together to promote the establishment of a competitive production infrastructure for organic electronics. The vision of the OE-A is to build a bridge between science, technology and application. More than 3,000 member companies from the engineering industry make VDMA the largest industry association in Europe.

The OE-A is the host of the premier international conference and exhibition, LOPE-C – Large-area, Organic and Printed Electronics Convention, which addresses scientists, engineers, manufacturers, and investors. In 2010, LOPE-C will take place from May 31 to June 2, 2010 at Messe Frankfurt, Germany.
