MC10 announced that it has closed a $10M Series C round of financing capped by two new strategic investors, Medtronic and a consumer health company, with participation from all of MC10’s existing investors. Dr. Stephen Oesterle, senior vice president of medicine and technology at Medtronic, will work directly with MC10 as a board observer.

MC10 extends human capabilities through virtually invisible and conformal electronics. The company recently announced the first of its consumer products, the Sports Impact Indicator co-developed with Reebok. MC10 partners with industry leaders to develop products for consumer sports & fitness, digital health, and medical device applications.

MC10 is developing products that can be used both on and inside the body, including sensors that monitor head impact, heart rate, brain activity, muscle function, body temperature and hydration, as well as an entirely new class of intelligent medical devices with embedded sensors for enhanced sensing and therapeutic capabilities.

“The work that MC10 is pursuing on flexible electronics has myriad applications in the device industry,” said Dr. Stephen Oesterle of Medtronic, the world’s largest medical technology company. “Several of our business units have been collaborating with MC10 for many years, and this investment should catalyze an expanded relationship between our two companies.”

“These strategic partners are clear leaders in their fields and share our vision of working to rapidly deploy game-changing innovations,” said David Icke, CEO of MC10. “With a strong set of complementary capabilities, they bring much more to MC10 than capital. These partnerships will help MC10 accelerate time-to-market for the products we are developing in consumer, digital health and medical devices.”
