Experimental Black XPB 412, its properties and performance in both water-borne and solvent-borne coatings, are discussed in a new technical information brochure from Orion Engineered Carbons. The new four-page piece describes Experimental Black XPB 412, the advantages of a new Orion-invented after-treatment process and the carbon black pigment’s performance when compared to Special Black 4 in both water-borne and solvent-borne coatings.

Graphs show jetness and undertone of the two products in both water- and solvent-borne coatings. Evaluations showed XPB 412 had significantly higher jetness in water-borne coatings than Special Black 4 due to better dispersion. In a 2K-PU solvent-borne coating, it showed the same excellent properties.
