Gemalto announces the election of Neville Pattinson, senior vice president of government programs at Gemalto North America, to the Identity Ecosystem Steering Group (IDESG) Management Council, formed recently by the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC). Gemalto brings identity and eGovernment solutions to more than 60 government programs worldwide and is an active part of 15 national eID initiatives. Pattinson joins 15 other delegates from global organizations with each of the experts serving a range of perspectives.

“I am looking forward to accomplishing a great deal as a part of the first Identity Ecosystem Steering Group – we have a premier team of experts who will no doubt be committed to promoting the Identity Ecosystem Framework in the best interest of the industry and its stakeholders,” said Pattinson.

Pattinson is an expert in smart card and encryption technology, having been involved in planning and implementing several U.S. federal government initiatives. He has served as past technical chairman of the Smart Card Alliance (SCA) and vice chairman of the SCA’s Identity Council. A founding member of the advocacy group called The Secure ID Coalition, he is also active within several other associations such as TechAmerica, American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA), InterNational Committee for Information Technology Standards (INCITS), International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and University of Texas’ Center for Identity.

NSTIC, tasked to improve security in cyberspace and e-commerce, formed the Identity Ecosystem Steering Group to develop and administer the process for policy and technical standards development for the Identity Ecosystem Framework.
