Nanosolar Receives AlwaysOn GoingGreen Global 200 Award

Nanosolar, Inc., a thin film solar printing leader, announced that it has been chosen by AlwaysOn as one of the GoingGreen Silicon Valley Global 200 winners. Inclusion in the GoingGreen Silicon Valley Global 200 signifies leadership amongst its peers for developing technologies that are likely to disrupt existing and entrenched players in green technology. Nanosolar was specially selected by the AlwaysOn based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value and media buzz.

Nanosolar was honored at AlwaysOn’s seventh annual GoingGreen Silicon Valley, Nov. 27-28, 2012, at the Golden Gate Club in San Francisco, CA.

The GoingGreen Global 200 winners were selected from among thousands of domestic and international technology companies nominated by investors, bankers, journalists, and green technology industry insiders. The AlwaysOn editorial team conducted a rigorous three-month selection process to finalize the 2012 list.

Nanosolar designs, engineers and manufactures innovative thin film solar cells and panels. By printing proprietary CIGS inks on low-cost aluminum foil, Nanosolar is utilizing its high-throughput roll-to-roll printable semiconductor technology to enable cost-efficient thin-film solar panels. This approach minimizes the use of expensive, high vacuum manufacturing equipment, and enables Nanosolar solar cells and panels to reach efficiencies competitive with crystalline silicon panels.

The pioneering design of the rugged Nanosolar Utility Panels is designed to reduce balance-of-system costs through less mounting hardware, electrical cabling and installation labor. Since the company produces light weight solar cells independently from solar panels, and prints the solar cells on a flexible substrate, Nanosolar can enable a wide range of solar product applications, thus driving solar energy adoption in existing and new markets.
