MC10 announced that it has been named a 2014 International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards Best of Innovations Honoree along with Reebok for the Reebok CHECKLIGHT. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products.

The groundbreaking Reebok CHECKLIGHT is a sports and activity impact indicator designed for athletes of all ages and skill-levels. Designed as a comfortable, conformal skullcap, the CHECKLIGHT is designed for use in all helmeted and non-helmeted contact sports and activities.

In the heat of competition, athletes are often unaware of the severity of a blow to the head. MC10 and Reebok have delivered a simple solution. The CHECKLIGHT design uses multiple motion sensors to provide actionable impact data to help assess an athlete before continuing to play. An easy-to-read display of red and yellow lights indicates the level of impact. The Reebok CHECKLIGHT is the first impact indicator that comfortably positions wearable electronics directly on the athlete – not on the athlete’s protective equipment.

“We are honored to be recognized as a CES Innovations Award Honoree,” said Dave Icke, CEO of MC10. “At MC10, we are passionate about raising the bar when it comes to making technology truly wearable. Our ultra-thin, seamless technology platform enables brands like Reebok to design innovative solutions to real-world problems in elegant and comfortable packages. The Reebok CHECKLIGHT embeds MC10’s conformal electronics into a closely-fitting skullcap in a way that is not distracting to the athlete, so that it can passively collect important impact data. We are excited that this product widens the window into consumer health.”
