Aellora Digital, a Markem company focused on digital chemistries, drop-on-demand ink jet system integration products and services for the commercial, graphic and select other digital printing industries, has named Dr. Michael Stoudt acting COO and head of the management team. The new team includes Dr. Richard Larson, CTO, Aellora Digital Chemistries; Joe Parisi, CTO, Aellora Digital Systems; Alan Boyer, manager of research and technology development; Ann Reitnauer, senior staff scientist; and Mario Carluccio, manager of marketing and business development. “The knowledge and experience this team provides in digital chemistries and system integration will allow Aellora customers to get the most out of their printing requirements,” said Dr. Stoudt. “We can meet digital printing applications needs of all types. This includes jetting inks with single or multi-heads of various print resolutions that are UV-curable or hot melt, spot or process color. We believe that the combination of digital chemistries and systems knowledge along with our extensive range of existing digital print solutions gives us a unique position in the market.” Dr. Stoudt is currently corporate vice president of science and engineering and CTO for Markem Corporation. Before joining Markem in 1997, he spent 23 years as a research scientist and business manager at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. Dr. Stoudt has 25 years of experience with digital imaging processes, concentrating on on-demand digital color printing since the mid-1980s. Dr. Larson is currently manager of research and technology development, chemistry for Markem, where he has been involved in several digital development programs since his hire in 1988. He has led development projects on phase change ink jet formulations, thermal transfer ribbons and reactive ink jet chemistries. Dr. Larson’s group is currently focused on UV-curable ink-jettable fluids. Mr. Parisi is currently director of product development, for Markem. He has been with Markem since 1994 and is responsible for the design and development of all ink jet and thermal transfer products. Prior to joining Markem, Mr. Parisi spent 15 years with Dataproducts (previously Exxon Printing Systems) in the research and development of ink jet printheads and printer products. Mr. Boyer is currently manager of research and technology development at Markem. Since 1980, he has worked at Markem in product development in a variety of roles and has acquired knowledge of numerous analog and digital imaging methods, including wet ink, hot stamp, hot melt, ink jet, ionographic, thermal and laser based imaging. Ms. Reitnauer has been at Markem for 17 years. For the past eight years, she has been developing drop-on-demand ink jet products, including hot melt and liquid inks. Prior to that, Ms. Reitnauer was involved with the development of specialty inks and elastomers. She has also worked on the development of heat cure, two-part, air dry, and air cure chemistries, as well as silicone elastomers. Prior to Markem, Ms. Reitnauer worked at Inmont Printing Inks developing water-based flexo inks. Mr. Carluccio is currently manager of business development at Markem. He has spent the last five years managing the development and commercialization of a piezo drop-on-demand ink jet printer and white-pigmented, UV-curable jetting ink initially targeted at industrial printing applications. Mr. Carluccio has also been involved with various direct and indirect laser and gravure printing technologies.
